Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)
I love how God plants big ideas and dreams in my heart. You know the ones that are so big that I know will require God and ALL his strength and guidance to carry it out. About five years ago, God put one of those dreams in my heart. I was so excited and ready to get started because it will help and bless the lives of so many people, but here's the catch... where will I get the funding and resources? I was stopped in my tracks and fear and doubt. So I just gave up and moved on with life. For the past few months, God has given me clear and concise instructions on moving forward. This is a big task and will require me to move out of my comfort zone. Well, guess what? A few things happened over the last few weeks, and God has pushed me out of that comfort zone. Wow...
I must admit that one thing that usually holds me back from moving forward and staying committed to what God calls me to do is fear. Sometimes it is fear that "I am not good enough to do what He has called me to do." Other times it is fear of the unknown. Either way, not being committed to what God has called me to do is disobedience. I do not want to be disobedient to God. I don't know how many people are being affected because of my delayed disobedience.
You shall therefore obey the voice of the Lord your God, keeping his commandment and his statutes, which I command you today. Deuteronomy 27:10 (ESV)
Committing to what God has called us to do shows our obedience to Him and our faith to go forth in the purpose of the calling in our life. This year, I want to be obedient to God. I will be intentional about moving forward in my purpose and calling.
What is holding you back from moving forward with your commitment to God? Know that He will give you the strength and guidance to keep moving forward. Seek Him and listen to His voice. God is the source of all our dreams. He will provide the resources.
Seek the Lord and his strength: seek his presence continually. 1 Chronicles 16:11 (ESV)
Let us be bold, courageous, and fearless. Let us stay committed to and focused on what God has called us to this year. This will require us to have faith, lean on His strength, and trust Him with ALL our hearts.
Reflection:
What is it that is holding you back from staying committed to God and what has He called you to do this year?
What change will you make to ensure your strength to stay committed to God and what He has called you to do this year?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for Your mercy and grace. Please forgive us for any delayed disobedience. We ask for Your continued strength and guidance as we continue to commit ourselves and our lives to You. We trust You to direct our paths and provide any resources needed this year. In Jesus' name. Amen
